A complete, user-friendly system to collect, preserve and transport stool samples at ambient temperatures
Norgen’s Stool Collection and Preservation System is a complete system designed to collect, store, and transport nucleic acids from stool specimens. Each of the 50 clamshells contain: nitrile gloves, alcohol swabs, Fe-Col® Collection Paper, and Norgen’s Stool Nucleic Acid Collection and Preservation Tube containing Norgen’s Stool Preservative in liquid format.
The user simply collects the stool specimen with the provided Fe-Col® Collection Paper, and then transfers the stool into the Stool Nucleic Acid Collection and Preservation Tube using the spoon attached to the lid. The sample is then mixed gently until the stool is well submerged under the preservative. The Stool Preservative eliminates the need to immediately process or freeze samples, allowing the samples to be shipped at ambient temperatures.
The preservative prevents the growth of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, resulting in the safe transportation of non-infectious samples.
To extend the stool RNA stability in the preservative, storage at -20°C or -70°C is recommended upon arrival at the testing facilities until RNA purification.
The components of the stool preservative allow samples to be stored at room temperature for over two years for DNA and 7 days for RNA.
With the Stool Nucleic Acid and Preservation System, you can isolate nucleic acids for any application, including 16s NGS.
